Almost all Oklahoma insurance policies include similar sections. Knowing your policy will help ensure you have the best coverage available for your needs and will help you avoid problems in the event of a loss.
Usually, the first part of any insurance policy is called the Declaration Page. This is where the name and address of the insured is identified along with the dates of coverage, what is covered, the limits of coverage, and any other key information
The Coverage and Limits of Liability section gives a summary of the coverage limits which will be paid in the event of a loss from a covered peril
The Conditions area of the policy explain the responsibilities of the insured that must be met and the Exclusions portion explains what will not be covered in the event of a loss
Most policies also have an Endorsement and Riders section which includes the provisions that add to, delete, or modify the original policy. It is important to read and understand if these optional changes will affect whether the policy still meets your coverage needs
It is important to read the Definitions section and become familiar with the definitions of specific terms of the insurance policy.
